Imelda Staunton plays Lady Maud Bagshaw, the distant cousin of Lord Grantham, and lady-in-waiting of the Queen. Although as her fellow actors are quick to tell you, she couldn’t be more different from her sarcastic, snobbish character. While the majority of the cast were undoubtedly unknowns when the series began, there were several big names on the billing: notably Dame Maggie Smith.
